Planning a Little Retreat

One thing I have learned as I have gotten older is that taking time by myself and for myself is absolutely essential.

It has been a busy summer. Good times, long hours at work, family schedules juggled.

My job demands quite a bit of attention over the summer. I work in college admissions and our largest class starts in September. So here I am, over that hurdle, one daughter back at college and the other one in volleyball practice until 6 at night. And I am tired. Drained.

I don't bounce back the way I used to. Or, perhaps a more astute way of wording this is that I bruise more easily now when I do bounce around like a crazy multi-tasking dervish. I can't ignore the aches and pains – mentally or physically. This is one of those times that I've got to give my body, mind and soul time to stretch and rest.

To be continued…
