What I am most looking forward to this summer -
sunshine
flip flops
walking on Sucia Island
sun ripened tomatoes still warm from the vine
eating outside
tender new growth bursting through the soil
asphalt that is too hot to walk on barefoot
campfires
the swells of the ocean under the bow
planting my fall and winter garden
laughter
the smell of coconut sunscreen
trailing my feet over the sides of a kayak
fingernails encrusted with dirt
wildflowers in Mt. Rainier National Park
watching the sun set at 9:30 pm
fresh fruit pies
hearing the baby swallows in their nest near my bedroom window
no school
opening all the windows in the house
cherries and blueberries in early July
naps in the hammock
checking my crab pots
salt water
strolling through the local farmers market
time spent with family and friends
long pauses
heat
